Indonesia's 2025 Suicide Cases Most Frequent in the Morning

According to data from the National Police's National Criminal Information Center (Pusiknas Polri), 594 suicide cases have been recorded in Indonesia between January 1 and May 28, 2025, as of 8.15 WIB. A breakdown by time of occurrence reveals that most suicides take place in the morning.

Pusiknas Polri data shows 134 suicide cases occurred between 05.00-07.59. Meanwhile, 117 suicide cases occurred between 08.00-11.59.

Previously, on Monday (May 26th 2025), news emerged of a Bank Indonesia (BI) employee who allegedly ended their life by jumping from the top of the BI Tipikal Building within the BI Office Complex in Central Jakarta. According to Gambir Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Rezeki Revi Respati, the victim died around 6:07 WIB.

"Based on CCTV analysis and witness statements, it was found that after arriving at the BI building around 05:48 WIB, the deceased took the elevator to the Typical Building and went directly to the 15th floor at 06.01 WIB. They jumped from the west rooftop of the building around 06.07 WIB," said Rezeki in a written statement on Tuesday (May 27th).

Based on the crime scene investigation (TKP) and medical examination, no signs of violence were found on the victim's body.

"We express our deepest condolences on the passing of the deceased. We, along with BI, have coordinated with the family, and Alhamdulillah, the funeral process has gone well," said Rezeki.

Meanwhile, BI expressed its condolences on the victim's passing. "We feel deep sorrow over the passing of one of our large BI family members," said BI Communication Department Head, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, in a written statement on Tuesday, May 27.
