Literacy Rates in 38 Indonesian Provinces 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the literacy rate of the Indonesian population aged 15-59 years reached 99.08% in 2024.

This means that 99 out of 100 people aged 15-59 in Indonesia can read and write Latin or other alphabets.

This year's national literacy rate increased by 0.16 percentage points from the previous year's achievement of 98.92%.

Of the 38 provinces in Indonesia, 24 provinces have literacy rates above the national average, while 14 provinces are below the average.

The highest literacy rates were achieved in North Sulawesi, Riau, and Banten, each at 99.96%.
