Indonesia Has the 9th Longest Social Media Usage Duration in the World

According to Data Reportal, in October 2024, the average global internet user spent 139 minutes (2 hours and 19 minutes) per day accessing social media.

During this period, Kenya had the longest average social media access duration, reaching 236 minutes (3 hours and 56 minutes) per day.

Indonesia ranked 9th globally. The average Indonesian social media user spent 188 minutes (3 hours and 8 minutes) per day accessing these applications.

1. Kenya: 236 minutes (3 hours and 56 minutes) per day
2. Brazil: 218 minutes (3 hours and 38 minutes) per day
3. South Africa: 217 minutes (3 hours and 37 minutes) per day
4. Philippines: 213 minutes (3 hours and 33 minutes) per day
5. Chile: 206 minutes (3 hours and 26 minutes) per day
6. Colombia: 198 minutes (3 hours and 18 minutes) per day
7. Nigeria: 195 minutes (3 hours and 15 minutes) per day
8. Mexico: 195 minutes (3 hours and 15 minutes) per day
9. Indonesia: 188 minutes (3 hours and 8 minutes) per day

Data Reportal notes that the majority, or 51.5%, of global internet users access social media to stay connected with family and friends.

Then, 39% use social media to fill their free time, 34.4% read new stories, and 30.4% search for content in the form of articles or videos.
