Is the Public Satisfied with the Attorney General's Office Performance? Here's the Survey

Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) conducted a survey on public satisfaction with the Attorney General's Office (Kejaksaan) performance in various areas.

In the area of prosecution, a majority or 56.1% of respondents were satisfied, while 36.6% were dissatisfied.

In terms of investigation, a majority or 55.9% of respondents rated the Attorney General's Office performance as satisfactory, and 32.4% were dissatisfied.

"The public has positively assessed the Attorney General's Office in carrying out prosecution and investigation as inherent authorities and duties of this institution," said the Litbang Kompas team in their report on Monday (July 22, 2024).

However, regarding corruption eradication and law enforcement, the majority of respondents were dissatisfied, as shown in the graph.

Litbang Kompas also surveyed public opinion on what the Attorney General's Office needs to do to improve the quality of its prosecutors.

The results showed that a majority or 36.9% of respondents believed that nepotism in the Attorney General's Office needs to be eliminated, 31.3% stated that the quality of prosecutors' education needs to be improved, and 25.1% suggested a more transparent recruitment process for prosecutors.

"If we look at the substance, these three public concerns boil down to improving the internal foundation of the Attorney General's Office," said the Litbang Kompas team.

This poll involved 534 respondents in 38 Indonesian provinces, selected randomly and proportionally.

The survey was conducted from June 18-20, 2024, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.22% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
