Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system from the Ministry of Forestry, monitoring over the last 24 hours recorded 17,798 hotspots detected across Indonesia. This figure increased by 6,698 hotspots compared to the prior period.

This data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Friday (2/10/2026) at 11:15 WIB. Out of 17,798 detected hotspots: 1,002 have high confidence level, 16,063 medium confidence, and 733 low confidence.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 tiers: Low (0-29), Medium (30-79), High (80-100). Higher hotspot confidence indicates greater probability of active forest and land fires in that area.

The highest hotspot count was recorded in Central Kalimantan with 5,840 points. South Sumatra ranked second with 3,053 hotspots, followed by South Papua in third place with 1,552 hotspots.

Additionally: 981 hotspots were detected in West Papua, 862 in East Kalimantan, 819 in South Kalimantan, and 677 in Maluku.

Hotspots are coordinate points showing higher surface temperature than surrounding areas – this count does not directly equal the number of fire incidents.

However, clustered high-volume hotspot readings indicate active forest/land fire events. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for wide-area wildfire monitoring.
