Indonesian National Police Arrest 146 Terror Suspects Throughout 2023: This is Their Network

National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo claims that the Densus 88 Anti-terror squad of the Indonesian National Police has arrested 146 terrorism suspects throughout 2023.

Of that number, the most numerous terrorist network apprehended was Jamaah Ansharut Daulah, with 68 individuals.

Second most numerous was the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group, with 51 individuals, followed by the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network with 13 individuals.

The Police also arrested members of the Jamaah Ansharu Syariah (JAS) network (7 individuals); Negara Islam Indonesia (NII) (5 individuals); and the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) (2 individuals).

"Regarding the terrorist threat, the Indonesian National Police prioritizes a preventive strike approach. We implemented this to prevent terrorist attacks throughout 2023," said Listyo Sigit during a Year-End Release event at the National Police Headquarters on Wednesday (27/12/2023).

In addition to arresting suspects, the police also confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, detailed as follows:

* 22 firearms
* 7 homemade firearms
* 2 soft guns and airsoft guns
* 2,088 bullets and 3 boxes of ammunition
* 74 magazines
* 21 explosives
* 163 bladed weapons

Listyo added that his team also implemented a deradicalization program. Currently, there are 256 terrorist convicts (napiter) who have green status after participating in the program.

"There are 4,892 napiter and their families who have successfully undergone deradicalization, of whom 256 currently have green status and are willing to renounce their allegiance and pledge loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," he said.
