Indonesia's Corruption Perception Index, according to a 2017 Transparency International survey, scored 37 out of 100. This score is the same as the previous year, although its global ranking dropped six places to 96th. This result places Indonesia below Timor-Leste, whose corruption index score increased by two points to 38 (ranking 91st), up from 35.
Singapore, meanwhile, remains the cleanest country in Southeast Asia with a score of 84, unchanged from the previous year. Its corruption index ranks it 6th out of 180 countries worldwide.
Of the 11 ASEAN member states, five saw an increase in their corruption index scores: Brunei Darussalam, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Three countries remained unchanged from the previous year: Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Malaysia, the Philippines, and Laos experienced a decrease.
