Metro City's Food Consumption Adequacy Rate Decreased by 8.38% in 2023

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Metro City, Lampung, was 8.38% in 2023.

This figure is down 3.13% from the previous year's 11.51%, and down 4.9% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Metro City is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Metro City who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient does not reach 8.38% of the total population.

Compared to 14 other districts/cities in Lampung Province, Metro City ranks 6th in terms of PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Way Kanan Regency (7.11%), and the highest (last rank) is Pringsewu Regency (10.82%).
