Prevalence of Food Inadequacy in South Solok Increased by 2.94% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra reached 10.95% in 2024.

This figure increased by 2.94% from the previous year''s 8.01%, while in the last 5 years, it rose by 5.16%.

Indonesia''s average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Solok Selatan Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity conditions.

This means that less than 10.95% of the total population in Solok Selatan Regency consumes food but still has insufficient energy intake.

Compared to 18 other regencies/cities in West Sumatra Province, Solok Selatan Regency ranks last in PoU. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Padang Panjang City (5.33%).
