These are the countries with the highest Positive Experience Index in the world.

The 2021 Gallup Global Emotions report recently released the positive experience index for several countries throughout 2020. Latin American countries dominated the list of the highest positive experience indices that year. El Salvador ranked first with a score of 82 points, the highest globally.

The score, on a scale of 0-100 points, indicates that a higher score reflects a better outcome. The score reflects public perception of living standards, individual freedom, and the presence of social networks.

Nicaragua ranked fourth globally with 81 points. Other Latin American countries on the list include Paraguay and Colombia, both scoring 80 points. Additionally, several Nordic countries known for high happiness levels also appeared in the positive experience index, such as Norway in third place with 81 points, followed by Iceland (80 points) in seventh place, and Finland in last place with 79 points.

Furthermore, the Philippines and New Zealand, representing Asia-Pacific, made the list with scores of 81 and 79 points respectively. Senegal represented Africa with a score of 80 points.

The Gallup report indicates that while 2020 was one of the worst years, the majority of adults still experienced positive emotions. At least they were able to get enough rest (72%), feel joyful (72%), and laugh a lot (70%). Furthermore, 86% of people felt treated with respect.

Gallup conducted surveys in 116 countries in 2020 and early 2021 via telephone. The research reached at least 1,000 respondents aged 15 and older in each country. The margin of sampling error was ±1.1-5.5% with a 95% confidence level.
