2024 Update: Banyuwangi Regency Population: 1.79 Million

Banyuwangi Regency's population was recorded at 1.79 million in 2024. This figure is higher than in 2023 and December 2021. Compared to five years prior, the region's Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) is higher, with a five-year growth rate of 2.04%.

Nominally, compared to other regions in East Java Province, this regency/city ranks among the top five; however, by island, it ranks 28th.

The majority of the population, approximately 64.08% (1.14 million), are of working age (15-59 years). According to a 2024 publication by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), this amounts to 1.14 million. The remaining population comprises approximately 19.17% aged 0-14 years (children) and 16.75% aged 60 years and older.
