Muslims worldwide are currently observing the month of Ramadan.
However, the duration of their fasts varies considerably due to the significant differences in daylight hours across the globe, influenced by geographical location and the Earth's tilt.
Muslims living in southern hemisphere countries, such as Chile or New Zealand, for example, fast for approximately 12 hours.
Conversely, those in northern hemisphere countries, like Iceland or Greenland, fast for over 17 hours.
So, which city has the longest fasting duration in the world this year?
According to data from The Islamic Information, as reported by Al Jazeera on Thursday (7/3/2024), cities in Europe generally have longer fasting durations than other regions.
