How many orphanages were there in DKI Jakarta in 2020?

Orphanages are social welfare institutions that accommodate, educate, and care for neglected children. The majority of children in orphanages are underage and impoverished children entrusted to them for a better life.

In DKI Jakarta, there are a number of orphanages spread across several administrative cities. According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were 53 orphanages in DKI Jakarta in 2020. The majority of these orphanages, 23 units, are located in East Jakarta.

The next highest number of orphanages is in South Jakarta, with a total of 11 units.

Ten orphanages are located in Central Jakarta. Seven and two orphanages are located in North Jakarta and West Jakarta, respectively.

Based on the number of children, a total of 3,408 children were cared for by all orphanages in DKI Jakarta in 2020. Orphanages in East Jakarta had the highest number of children under their care in the capital, with 1,427 children.

Next, 923 children were cared for by orphanages in Central Jakarta. Then, there were 629 children cared for by orphanages in South Jakarta, followed by 238 children in North Jakarta and 191 children in West Jakarta.
