2024 BAC Champion, Jonatan Christie Soars in BWF Rankings

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) released the latest world rankings for men's singles following the conclusion of the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC), held from April 9-14, 2024, at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in China.

In the tournament, Indonesian badminton player Jonatan Christie emerged victorious after defeating China's Li Shi Feng on Sunday (April 14, 2024).

The BAC 2024 final match spanned two games. Affectionately known as Jojo, he defeated the home representative with a final score of 21-15 and 21-16 in 54 minutes.

This achievement propelled Jonatan's BWF ranking from 5th to 3rd in the world men's singles, with 89,211 points.

Meanwhile, another Indonesian athlete, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, was eliminated in the BAC 2024 quarter-finals after losing to Li Shi Feng with a score of 9-21 and 10-21.

As a result, Ginting, who previously held the 3rd position in the BWF men's singles ranking, dropped to 7th place with 79,701 points.

Danish badminton player Viktor Axelsen remains at the top of the world men's singles ranking with 98,715 points.

Axelsen was absent from the BAC 2024 as the tournament only included countries from the Asian zone.
