Province with the Highest Rate of Smokers

A national survey on public smoking behavior reveals that the average national daily cigarette consumption per person is 12.3 cigarettes (equivalent to one pack). The highest average consumption was found in Bangka Belitung (18 cigarettes) and Riau (16-17 cigarettes). The lowest was in Yogyakarta, with only 9.9 cigarettes per person per day.

This survey, conducted by the Ministry of Health's Research and Development Agency, involved residents over 10 years old. The report shows that smoking behavior among people aged 15 and over has not decreased. The proportion has even increased annually, from 34.2 percent in 2007 to 36.3 percent in 2013.
