Prevalence of Food Consumption Insufficiency in Sukoharjo Decreased by 0.96% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, was 8.05% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 2.26% from the previous year's 10.31%, and by 0.96% over the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024, meaning that Sukoharjo Regency's PoU is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that less than 8.05% of Sukoharjo Regency's population consumes food but has insufficient energy needs.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Sukoharjo Regency's PoU ranks 16th. The areas with the lowest PoU (top ranks) are Salatiga City (4.04%) and the highest (last rank) is Wonosobo Regency (13.39%).
