The South Jakarta District Court (PN Jakarta Selatan) held a sentencing hearing for defendants Mario Dandy Satriyo and Shane Lukas in the case of the assault on David Azora on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
According to BBC, Mario Dandy was found guilty of grievous assault against David Ozora and sentenced to the maximum of 12 years imprisonment.
In the verdict of the South Jakarta District Court panel of judges, Mario was found legally and convincingly guilty of the assault. In addition to the prison sentence, the son of Rafael Alun Trisambodo was also ordered to pay restitution or compensation to the victim amounting to Rp25 billion.
This compensation amount is significantly less than the Rp120 billion initially demanded by the prosecutor. The panel of judges also ordered Mario to sell or auction his Jeep Rubicon.
"(Selling the Rubicon) will reduce part of the restitution that must be paid to the victim, David Ozora," wrote the panel of judges in their verdict.
Meanwhile, the other defendant, Shane Lukas Rotua Pangodian Lumbantoruan, alias Shane, was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.
Both defendants were allegedly in violation of Article 76 C in conjunction with Article 80 of the Child Protection Law (UU PPA) in conjunction with Article 351 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning ordinary assault.
Long before Mario and Shane, AG received a verdict from the South Jakarta District Court on April 10, 2023.
"The child AGH is declared legally and convincingly guilty of the crime of participating in premeditated grievous assault," said the sole judge, Sri Wahyuni Batu Bara, as reported by bbc.com, Monday, April 10, 2023.
The judge also decided that Mario's former girlfriend would serve her sentence at the Special Child Guidance Institution (LPKA).
