The latest survey by the Ministry of Transportation's Research and Development Agency (Balitbang Kemenhub) indicates that an estimated 85.5 million Indonesians will travel outside their hometowns, or "mudik," during the 2022 Lebaran holiday. Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati stated that the predicted increase in the number of people undertaking mudik this year is due to the government's prohibition of mudik for the past two years.

The peak of the outbound mudik flow is expected to occur on April 29-30, 2022, from 7-9 am. Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow is predicted for May 8, 2022, from 7-9 am.
