Central Java Becomes the Main Destination for Homecoming Travelers from Jabodetabek

A survey by the Transportation Research and Development Agency (Balitbanghub) of the Ministry of Transportation shows that Central Java is the most popular destination for travelers from the Jabodetabek area this year, with 5.61 million people (37.68%). West Java and East Java are the next most popular destinations, with 3.71 million people (24.89%) and 1.66 million people (11.14%) traveling from Jabodetabek to these regions, respectively.

Surakarta in Central Java is the main destination for travelers from Jabodetabek, with 642,789 people (4.31%). Two other cities are Semarang, with 563,881 travelers (3.78%), and Tegal, with 354,110 travelers (2.38%).

This survey on the potential of Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) homecoming travelers in 2019 in the Jabodetabek area involved 7,762 household respondents. The number of travelers from the Jabodetabek area this year is predicted to reach 3.46 million households or 14.9 million people. This figure reflects 44.1% of the total Jabodetabek population in 2018, which was 33.76 million people.
