Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Afternoon (Saturday, April 11, 2026)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Saturday (April 11, 2026) at 11:15 WITA. In the past week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 3 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the observed ash column height reached None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

No visual eruption was observed. The eruption was recorded on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 123 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level II (Warning). Earthquake observations on April 11, 2026 from 00:00 to 23:59 WITA showed 2 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 3.7-7.4 millimeters and durations of 167-172 seconds.

Additionally, there was 1 emission earthquake with an amplitude of 29.6 millimeters and a duration of 35 seconds, as well as 15 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 4.4-7.4 millimeters and durations of 72-100 seconds.

PVMBG urges residents around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 4-kilometer radius of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption center.

In 2026, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 1,414 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has the most eruptions (762 times) while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 19 times.
