In April 2023, a heatwave swept across several regions of Indonesia. According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), this phenomenon was caused by the apparent movement of the sun.
"The apparent movement of the sun is a usual cycle that occurs every year, so the potential for such hot air temperatures can also recur in the same period every year," said BMKG via its Instagram account @infobmkg on Tuesday (25/4/2023).
Based on BMKG data, Ciputat recorded the highest temperature in Indonesia during the period of April 11-20, 2023.
The BMKG observation station in Ciputat recorded a temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius, but this temperature spike only occurred on one day, April 17, 2023.
The maximum temperature in Indonesia in general was in the range of 34 to 36 degrees Celsius.
"The maximum temperature variation of 34 to 36 degrees Celsius for the Indonesian region is still within the normal climatological range compared to previous years," said BMKG.
The following is a list of the 10 regions with the highest temperatures in Indonesia during the period of April 11-20, 2023, according to BMKG data:
