Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 03:54 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 6 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the observed ash column height reached 700 meters above the peak (2,284 meters above sea level).

The ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the northeast. The eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki was still ongoing at the time of this report.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismic observations on April 4, 2025, from 18:00 to 23:59 WITA showed 6 emission quakes with amplitudes of 2.9-7.4 millimeters and durations of 25-213 seconds.

Then, there were 5 shallow volcanic earthquakes with amplitudes of 3.3-14.8 millimeters, S-P times of 1-1.19 seconds, and durations of 6.6-20 seconds, as well as 1 continuous tremor with an amplitude of 2.2-4.4 millimeters, dominant at 2.2 millimeters.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to carry out any activities within a 6-kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

During 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 2,589 volcanic eruptions/eruptions throughout Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (1,201 eruptions), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 229 times.
