70 Percent of East Java's Population Reached Working Age in June 2022

The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs recorded East Java's population as 41.14 million in June 2022.

The details show that 28.93 million (70.32%) of East Java's population falls within the productive age group (15-64 years). Another 12.21 million (29.68%) of the province's population, led by Governor Khofifah Indar Paransa, are in the unproductive age group.

Of the unproductive age group, 8.64 million (21.01%) are in the non-productive age group (0-4 years), and 3.57 million (6.67%) are in the post-productive age group (65 years and older).

According to this data, the dependency ratio is 42.21%. This means that for every 100 people of productive age, there are 42-43 dependents in the unproductive age group as of June 2022.

The larger number of people in the productive age group compared to the unproductive age group indicates that the region is in a demographic bonus era.

* Completed Primary School (SD): 10,945,947 people
* Did not complete Primary School: 4,747,365 people
* Never attended school: 9,252,129 people
