This is the area of West Manggarai, where Komodo National Park is located.

The 2022 Mandalika MotoGP event, to be held in the Mandalika tourist area, West Lombok, is expected to revitalize local tourism.

The government hopes this tourism boost will also spread to other tourist destinations in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This will increase the visibility and visitation of both domestic and international tourists to the region.

One of NTT's tourist destinations renowned for its natural beauty is Labuan Bajo. This tourist destination is located in Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, NTT. Besides Labuan Bajo, another destination in Komodo District is Komodo National Park, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

Komodo District has the largest area, reaching 813.53 square kilometers (km) or 25.88% of the total area of West Manggarai Regency (3,141 km²). Administratively, Komodo District is divided into 19 sub-districts/villages.

The next largest district in West Manggarai is Boleng, with an area of 486.56 km² (15.49%). This is followed by Sano Nggoang District with an area of 360.19 km² (11.47%), and Welak District with an area of 319.19 km² (10.16%).

West Kuwus District has the smallest area, at only 42.66 km² (1.36%). Following this are Kuwus District with 54.55 km² (1.74%), and Pacar District with 112.12 km² (3.57%).
