Jakarta Provincial Government Issues 27,000 Death Certificates in Q1 2021

The Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) issued 27,321 death certificates during the first quarter of 2021. East Jakarta recorded the highest number of deaths among all regions in Jakarta, with 8,388 certificates issued.

This figure represents 30.7% of the total death certificates issued in Jakarta. West Jakarta and South Jakarta issued 5,751 and 5,742 death certificates respectively, accounting for 21% of the total.

North Jakarta contributed 4,201 death certificates, followed by Central Jakarta with 3,159. The Thousand Islands issued the fewest death certificates, with only 80, or 0.3% of the total issued in the first quarter of 2021.

Death certificates must be processed at the local Disdukcapil office. This facilitates the processing of other matters, such as inheritance, pension funds, and insurance claims. Reporting a death removes the deceased from the family card (KK) and national identity number (NIK).

To report a death, several documents are required: photocopies of the deceased's ID card, the reporter's ID card, a witness's ID card, birth certificate, marriage certificate, family card, death certificate from the hospital, death certificate from the village office (kelurahan), and a death certificate from the neighborhood unit leader (RT).
