According to findings from the Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), 19 significant problems occurred during the voting and vote counting process in the 2024 General Election.
This data was compiled from patrols across 38 provinces via the Election Supervisory Information System (Siwaslu) application until Thursday, February 15th, 2024, at 6:00 AM WIB.
"Bawaslu identified 13 problems during the voting process and 6 problems during the vote counting process," said Bawaslu Chair Rahmat Bagja in a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, February 15th, 2024.
Bawaslu member Lolly Suhenty stated that the most frequent problem during the 2024 election was polling stations (TPS) opening late. This issue was found in 37,466 TPS.
"Polling stations opening after 7:00 AM were located in West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, Banten, East Java, North Sumatra, Riau, West Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi," said Lolly.
Meanwhile, the least frequent problem was intimidation of election officials, found in 1,473 TPS.
The following is a complete list of the 19 problems in the voting and vote counting process of the 2024 General Election, according to Bawaslu's findings:
1. Polling stations opening late (after 7:00 AM WIB): 37,466 TPS
2. Lack of assistive devices for visually impaired voters (braille templates): 12,884 TPS
3. Election supervisors, witnesses, and the public unable to access Sirekap: 11,233 TPS
4. Incomplete voting logistics: 10,496 TPS
5. Special voters casting ballots outside their e-KTP sub-district domicile: 8,219 TPS
6. Ballot papers mixed up: 6,084 TPS
7. Assistants for disabled voters failing to sign the assistant statement letter: 5,836 TPS
8. KPPS (Polling Station Working Committee) failing to explain the voting and vote counting procedures: 5,449 TPS
9. Voter list (DPT) announcement board not displayed around the TPS and not listing voters marked as ineligible: 3,724 TPS
10. Witnesses wearing attire containing elements or candidate numbers/political parties/DPD: 3,521 TPS
11. Vote counting starting before voting ended: 3,463 TPS
12. Mobilization or attempts to direct voter choices (by campaign teams, election participants, and/or organizers): 2,632 TPS
13. Witnesses unable to show written mandates from campaign teams or election participants: 2,509 TPS
14. Voters casting ballots more than once: 2,413 TPS
15. Intimidation of voters or election officials at the TPS: 2,271 TPS
16. Discrepancy between the count of valid and invalid ballots and the number of voters who cast ballots: 2,162 TPS
17. TPS supervisors not given copies of Form C: 1,895 TPS
18. No witnesses, TPS supervisors, or public able to observe the vote counting process: 1,888 TPS
19. Intimidation of election officials: 1,473 TPS
Bawaslu stated that this data is incomplete due to internet network issues during data transmission, and the numbers may increase.
