The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has noted the presence of mining areas in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) region.

Data from the Decree of the Minister of ESDM Number 301.K/MB.01/MEM.B/2022 concerning the National Mineral and Coal Management Plan 2022-2027 states that the area of IKN surrounded by mining areas was 59,874 hectares as of July 2022.

The details are: 22,071 hectares of mining area are located in the IKN Core Area (KIKN) and 37,803 hectares in the IKN Central Area (KPIKN).

During the same data collection period, there were also 63 active mining permits in the IKN region. The details are as follows:

a. 1 PKP2B (PT Singlurus Pratama);
b. 1 IUPK (PT Multi Harapan Utama);
c. 42 IUP coal commodities; and
d. 19 IUP specific non-metallic minerals and rock IUPs.

On the one hand, the Ministry of ESDM mentions that post-mining land and pit rehabilitation in the IKN region is one of the priorities in IKN development.
