Based on national Covid-19 data, 145 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. As of Thursday, January 19, 2023, the national average was 135.74 tests per week.
The top five, in descending order, are Gresik, Banyumas, Samarinda City, Kediri, and Semarang, with 986, 937, 931, 915, and 902 tests per week, respectively.
Gresik ranks first, with 986 tests per week. Its latest positive rate is 0.3 percent, lower than the previous week.
Banyumas follows, with 937 tests per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Its positive rate is 0.43 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Samarinda City recorded 931 tests per week, Kediri 915, and Semarang 902.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 141 regencies/cities actively reporting a higher number of weekly tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 208 other regencies/cities recorded fewer tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of weekly tests include Samarinda City, Denpasar City, and Kupang City, with 931, 883, and 776 tests per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
