The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 136 districts/cities with a weekly agglomeration of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 0.44 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Tuesday, May 24, 2022).
The top five districts/cities with the highest confirmed positive cases, exceeding 7.27 per 100,000 population/week, are Teluk Bintuni (15.91 per 100,000 population/week), Sumba Tengah (10.59 per 100,000 population/week), Sorong Selatan (9.85 per 100,000 population/week), Supiori (9.45 per 100,000 population/week), and Fakfak (7.27 per 100,000 population/week).
A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in confirmed positive cases in most districts/cities outside Java. Thirty-eight districts/cities recorded higher daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 19 districts/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive cases include Teluk Bintuni (15.91 per 100,000 population/week), Sumba Tengah (10.59 per 100,000 population/week), and Sorong Selatan (9.85 per 100,000 population/week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
