West Java Has the Most Community Health Centers in Indonesia in 2023

Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Indonesia had 10,416 community health centers (puskesmas) in 2023, a 0.4% increase compared to 2022.

Approximately 41%, or 4,238, of national puskesmas have inpatient facilities, while 59%, or 6,178, do not.

According to Health Minister Regulation Number 43 of 2019, puskesmas are healthcare facilities that provide primary-level public health services and individual health services.

In 2023, West Java had the highest number of puskesmas with 1,100 units.

Following West Java are East Java with 972 units, and Central Java with 880 units.

5. South Sulawesi: 474 units

9. Lampung: 319 units
10. Jakarta: 315 units

Meanwhile, the provinces with the fewest puskesmas are North Kalimantan with only 58 units, followed by Bangka Belitung Islands with 64 units, and West Papua with 76 units.
