Based on national Covid-19 data, 87 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of Friday, March 17, 2023, the national average was 8.61 percent. This achievement is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting with the highest weekly testing percentage, are Indragiri Hulu (305.58%), Balikpapan City (235.56%), Purwakarta (214.08%), Kutai Kartanegara (122.12%), and Halmahera Tengah (114.63%).
Indragiri Hulu ranks first. With a population of 453,480, its weekly testing percentage is 305.58 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.07 percent, higher than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Balikpapan City. Its population is 649,420. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage reached 235.56 percent. The positive rate is 0 percent, lower than the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, Purwakarta recorded a 214.08 percent testing percentage, Kutai Kartanegara 122.12 percent, and Halmahera Tengah 114.63 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 97 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 213 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Indragiri Hulu, Balikpapan City, and Kutai Kartanegara, with weekly testing percentages of 305.58 percent, 235.56 percent, and 122.12 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
