Based on national Covid-19 data, 171 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Monday, April 18, 2022, the national average was 205.52 specimens per week.
The top five, in descending order, are Pringsewu, Nganjuk, Biak Numfor, Sikka, and Ponorogo, with 992, 985, 979, 976, and 969 specimens per week, respectively.
Pringsewu ranks first. With a population of 409,310, it tested 992 specimens per week. Its latest positive rate was 0.51 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Nganjuk. In its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, it tested 985 specimens per week. Its positive rate was 0.55 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Biak Numfor recorded 979 specimens per week, Sikka 976 specimens per week, and Ponorogo 969 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, national Covid-19 data shows that 171 regencies/cities actively reported a higher number of daily specimen tests than before. Meanwhile, 196 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some of the regions with the highest number of specimens tested include Pringsewu, Biak Numfor, and Sikka, with 992, 979, and 976 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
