Almost 400 Covid-19 Protocol Burials Per Day in Jakarta

Covid-19 protocol burials in DKI Jakarta have been steadily increasing. According to data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Covid-19 protocol burials in the capital began to rise in mid-June 2021, reaching approximately 100 per day.

The number of Covid-19 protocol burials in Jakarta reached approximately 200 per day at the end of June 2021 and over 300 per day at the beginning of July 2021. On July 4th, 2021, a record high of 394 individuals were buried according to Covid-19 protocols in Jakarta, the highest number throughout the pandemic.

Thus, a total of 23,478 individuals have been buried according to Covid-19 protocols in Jakarta since the first case was identified early last year. This number is significantly higher than the total number of identified Covid-19 deaths in Jakarta, which stands at 9,121.

The increase in Covid-19 protocol burials is consistent with the surge in new cases in recent weeks. On Wednesday, July 7th, 2021, DKI Jakarta recorded 9,366 new cases, the highest increase among all provinces.

Covid-19 protocol burials are conducted for deceased individuals who have tested positive for or are suspected of being infected with the coronavirus. The process has specific regulations and must be completed within a maximum of four hours after death to prevent the spread of the virus.
