The top five, starting from the highest, are Malang City, Blitar, Tulungagung, Kupang City, and Jambi City, with 990, 987, 985, 964, and 962 people tested per week, respectively.
Malang City ranks first. With a population of 884,360, the number of people tested in the last week was 990 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.4 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Blitar. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 987 per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.1 percent, also down from the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Tulungagung recorded 985 people tested per week, Kupang City recorded 964, and Jambi City recorded 962 Covid-19 tests per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, 159 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 217 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested last week include Kupang City, Jambi City, and Mimika, with 964, 962, and 941 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
