The tourism sector in Jakarta, DKI Jakarta, continued to show a recovery trend throughout the first half of 2022.
According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in June 2022, there were 85,587 foreign tourists or international tourists (wisman) who visited the capital city.
This number increased by 47.96% (month-on-month/mom) compared to May 2022, and even surged by 534.8% (year-on-year/yoy) compared to June of the previous year.
Cumulatively, throughout the first half of 2022, DKI Jakarta received 232,300 visits from foreign tourists, an increase of 292.7% (yoy) compared to the first half of the previous year, which only saw 59,100 visits.
All foreign tourists who visited Jakarta in June 2022 arrived via Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The majority came from Malaysia, with 9,447 visits, equivalent to 11% of the total international tourist visits to the capital city.
Other significant sources of international tourists included Singapore (7,496 visits), the United States (6,085 visits), China (5,597 visits), and South Korea (5,124 visits).
