With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 154 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Thursday, December 15, 2022, shows the national average of tests is 144.78 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per week are Batam, Pasuruan, Bengkulu Utara, Klaten, and Cianjur, with 958, 931, 877, 842, and 811 people tested per week, respectively.
Batam ranks first, with 958 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 1.57 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Pasuruan is next, with 931 people tested per week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 3.54 percent, also down from the previous week.
Bengkulu Utara recorded 877 people tested per week, while Klaten and Cianjur recorded 842 and 811 people tested per week, respectively.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 179 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 175 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some of the regions with the highest number of people tested per week include Batam, Bengkulu Utara, and Sikka, with 958, 877, and 791 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
