Based on data from Tuesday (January 12th), 09:14 WIB, Indonesia has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases (self-isolation and hospitalization) in Southeast Asia. The country has 123,636 active cases, representing 14.8% of the total cases.
The Philippines, which had previously overtaken Indonesia, is now showing a downward trend in COVID-19 cases. The country has 22,114 active cases, equivalent to 4.5% of its total cases. The number of active cases in the Philippines is now even lower than Malaysia, which currently has 28,554 cases.
The high number of active cases in Indonesia is due to the continuously increasing daily case count. Yesterday (January 11th), 8,692 new cases were reported.
The government continues to encourage the public to adopt the "3M" movement: regular handwashing with soap, mask-wearing, and maintaining physical distancing. The public needs to change their lifestyles to incorporate these practices.
