Occupancy rates at star-rated hotels increased to 36.64% in September 2021.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the hotel occupancy rate (HOR) for star-rated hotels in Indonesia reached 36.64% in September 2021. This figure increased significantly by 11.57 percentage points compared to the previous month, which was 25.07%.

The HOR for star-rated hotels in September 2021 increased by 4.52 percentage points compared to September 2020. In September 2020, the HOR for star-rated hotels was recorded at 32.12%.

All provinces experienced a monthly increase in HOR. The highest increase occurred in Bengkulu, at 24.58 percentage points. This was followed by Yogyakarta Special Region and West Java, at 20.22 and 17.10 percentage points respectively.

According to their classification, all star-rated hotel HORs in September 2021 also experienced a monthly increase. The highest increase was experienced by five-star hotels, at 15.09 percentage points, from 18.40% to 33.49%. Four-star hotels experienced an increase of 14.62 percentage points, from 23.02% to 37.64%. The HOR for three-star hotels increased by 9.42 percentage points, from 28.28% to 37.70%. The HOR for two-star hotels increased by 8.60 percentage points, from 29.31% to 37.91%. Meanwhile, the HOR for one-star hotels increased by 5.67 percentage points, from 18.66% to 24.33%.

Year-on-year, only the HOR for one-star hotels experienced a decrease. The HOR for one-star hotels decreased by 1.15 percentage points year-on-year, from 25.48% to 24.33%. The highest year-on-year increase in HOR was for four-star hotels, increasing by 5.59 percentage points from 32.05% to 37.64%. The HOR for two-star hotels increased by 5.42 percentage points, from 32.49% to 37.91%.

Furthermore, the HOR for five-star hotels increased by 4.77 percentage points year-on-year, from 28.72% to 33.49%. Meanwhile, the HOR for three-star hotels increased by 3.85 percentage points, from 33.85% to 37.70%.
