Indonesia today recorded 5,808 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 5.99 million as of Thursday, March 24, 2022. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, Banten, and East Java.
Here is the breakdown of the highest number of new Covid-19 cases by province today
- West Java recorded 1,229 new cases
West Java ranks first. The increase in cases here was 1,229, or a 0.11% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.09 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in West Java is now 1.09 million.
In addition to the highest number of new cases, West Java also recorded nine deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in West Java has reached 15,576. The seven-day positive rate is 8.46%, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 17%.
- Jakarta recorded 1,067 new cases
Jakarta ranks second. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 1,067. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 6.89%. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 116.49 per week.
- Central Java recorded 625 new cases
Central Java ranks third. In this province, the increase in cases today was 625, or a 0.1% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 620,630.
In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, Central Java also recorded 38 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Central Java has reached 32,619. The seven-day positive rate is 8.02%, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 14%.
- Banten recorded 459 new cases
Banten ranks fourth. The increase in cases here was 459, or a 0.16% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 286,520. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 286,980.
In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, Banten also recorded three deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Banten has reached 2,915. The seven-day positive rate is 7.56%, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 10%.
- East Java recorded 368 new cases
East Java ranks fifth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 368. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 4.17%. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 93.56 per week.
- Yogyakarta recorded 308 new cases
Yogyakarta ranks sixth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 308. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 18.91%. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 18 per week.
- East Nusa Tenggara recorded 252 new cases
East Nusa Tenggara ranks seventh. In this province, the increase in cases today was 252, or a 0.27% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 91,684.
The number of deaths in East Nusa Tenggara today was also reported as three. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Nusa Tenggara has reached 1,469. The seven-day positive rate in East Nusa Tenggara is 27.05%, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 38%.
- West Kalimantan recorded 192 new cases
West Kalimantan ranks eighth. In this province, the increase in cases today was 192, or a 0.3% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 63,061.
The number of deaths in West Kalimantan today was also reported as one. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in West Kalimantan has reached 1,134.
The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to last week.
Similarly, the positive rate in this region is recorded as lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at 22%.
- East Kalimantan recorded 127 new cases
East Kalimantan ranks ninth. In this province, the increase in cases today was 127, or a 0.06% increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 205,130.
The unfortunate news in East Kalimantan today also recorded one death. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Kalimantan has reached 5,672. The seven-day positive rate is 7.73%, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 17%.
- Lampung recorded 116 new cases
Lampung ranks tenth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 116. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 8.95%. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 12.95 per week.
