Indonesia Records Lowest Daily Covid-19 Death Toll Since May 25, 2020

The government reported 19 additional Covid-19 deaths on October 17, 2021. This is the lowest number since May 25, 2020. The implementation of restrictions on community social activities, the massive Covid-19 vaccination program, and the public's adherence to health protocols have successfully suppressed the death toll from the coronavirus.

Based on data from the Ministry of Health, Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia have been below 100 since the beginning of October 2021. As a result, the cumulative number of deaths due to the coronavirus only reached 1,013 people during the period of October 1-17, 2021. This figure is down 85.76% compared to the period of September 1-17, 2021.

The total cumulative deaths due to Covid-19 reached 142,952 people from the beginning of the pandemic until October 17, 2021. The highest number of deaths in a single day was reached on July 27, 2021, with an increase of 2,069 Covid-19 deaths.

Meanwhile, 747 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative confirmed coronavirus cases to 4,234,758. Meanwhile, 1,086 patients were declared recovered from Covid-19. With yesterday's addition, the total cumulative number of recovered Covid-19 patients reached 4,075,418.

To suppress the transmission of the coronavirus, the government is targeting 208.27 million people for vaccination. As of October 17, 2021, 107.5 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 62.73 million people have received the second dose. Meanwhile, 1.07 million people have received a third dose.
