The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in East Kalimantan is currently in Mahakam Ulu, with 52.19 cases per 100,000 population per week as of Monday, August 29, 2022. This figure is more than double the number of cases in the next highest region.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in Mahakam Ulu does not appear to be improving. The Ministry of Health recorded no weekly cases per 100,000 population in the region the previous week.
Next is Bontang City, which recorded 23.73 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. Compared to the previous week's 39.36 cases, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is lower.
Rounding out the top five, in addition to the two regions above, are Balikpapan City, Penajam Paser Utara, and Kutai Timur, recording 18.88, 5, and 4 weekly confirmed cases respectively.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 statistics shows that 222 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to the previous week, and 173 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmed cases than the previous week.
Furthermore, 132 regencies/cities in Indonesia reported no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week, according to the latest data.
