West Java had the highest number of integrated service posts (posyandu) nationwide in 2019. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), there were 48,907 posyandu spread across West Java.
Central Java followed with 47,610 posyandu. East Java had 43,325. North Sumatra and Banten had 14,350 and 9,520 posyandu, respectively.
Posyandu play a crucial role in monitoring child development, improving nutrition, and preventing diseases, especially in children under three years old. Posyandu also help achieve immunization targets to prevent the spread of diseases affecting children's immune systems.
However, community visits to posyandu decreased drastically since the COVID-19 pandemic due to social restrictions during the outbreak.
Therefore, the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) initiated virtual posyandu services. Specifically in West Java, the Head of the West Java Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team, Atalia P. Ridwan Kamil, is finalizing the concept of mobile posyandu (posling). This program is expected to monitor children's health, even with social restrictions during the corona pandemic.
