The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.59 million cases by Saturday, April 2, 2022. El Salvador reported the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 129.69 percent. GISAID recorded 147 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 129.69 percent compared to the previous day.
Slovenia follows with a weekly growth in Omicron cases reaching 64.96 percent. A total of 14,899 new Omicron cases were reported in the country. Daily statistics show an 8.83 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 13,690 cases.
Next, Germany reported 172,160 new Omicron cases (a 54.54% increase), Paraguay saw a 43.62 percent increase to 135 cases compared to the previous week, and the Republic of Moldova reported 314 new Omicron cases (a 37.12% increase).
In Indonesia, as of today, there are 9,470 Omicron cases, a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
