85% of Indonesian adults have assets below Rp 150 million.

Global investment firm Credit Suisse released its Global Wealth Report 2018. The report states that 85.4% (145.41 million) of Indonesian adults possess wealth below US$10,000 or Rp150 million (using an exchange rate of Rp15,000 per US dollar). Furthermore, 13.7% (23.32 million) have wealth between US$10,000 and US$100,000, 0.8% (1.39 million) have wealth between US$100,000 and US$1 million, and 0.1% (89,000) have wealth exceeding US$1 million.

The adult population of Indonesia was estimated at 170.22 million in 2018, with a total wealth of US$1.518 trillion or Rp22.770 trillion. This translates to an average wealth of US$8,919 per adult. This figure represents a 276.3% increase compared to US$2,370 per adult in 2000.

According to the same report, 1.61 million Indonesian adults are included in the world's top 10% wealthiest individuals. Only 105,000 are included in the world's top 1%. The average gross wealth of Indonesian adults is US$9,655. This comprises 15.8% in financial assets, 84.2% in non-financial assets, and the remaining 7.6% represents debt. Inequality in Indonesia remains quite high, with the wealthiest 1% controlling approximately 46.6% of the nation's adult population wealth.
