For the 2022 Eid al-Fitr holiday, the government mandated that all travelers must receive a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, also known as a booster shot.
Considering that many travelers originate from DKI Jakarta, how many people in the capital city had received the booster vaccine in the two weeks leading up to the peak of the exodus?
Based on data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), as of April 13, 2022, the number of people who received the booster vaccine in DKI Jakarta had reached 3,114,379. This number ranks fourth highest in Indonesia.
South Jakarta had the highest number of booster vaccine recipients in the capital city, with 770,086 people.
Next, East Jakarta reached 723,619 booster vaccine recipients, West Jakarta 613,472, and Central Jakarta 539,884.
Booster vaccinations in North Jakarta reached 450,690, while the Thousand Islands reached 16,638.
Nationally, Indonesia had administered booster vaccines to 28.72 million people as of 6 PM WIB on April 13, 2022. This number only reaches 13.79% of the national Covid-19 vaccination target, which totals 208.26 million people.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Covid-19 vaccination at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, advised the public not to get the booster vaccine on the day of their journey. This is to avoid the possibility of Post-Immunization Adverse Events (KIPI).
So far, according to Nadia, the KIPI that have arisen after booster vaccinations are dominated by local or mild reactions such as pain at the injection site, swelling, redness, and aches.
However, Nadia ensured that ambulances would be available at every Covid-19 vaccination post to be on standby in case of reports of severe KIPI.
