Indonesia's Covid-19 report notes that 978 healthcare workers have died from the coronavirus (Covid-19) by Thursday, June 24, 2021. The majority of these deaths were doctors, numbering 374.
311 nurses also died from the virus. Additionally, 155 midwives perished due to the deadly virus.
39 dentists died from Covid-19, along with 28 medical laboratory technicians (ATLM).
Nine pharmacists also died from the virus. Six radiology technicians and five sanitation workers died from Covid-19.
Three dental therapists, three electromedical technicians, and three pharmacy technicians each died from the coronavirus. Two ambulance personnel and two epidemiologists also died from Covid-19.
One medical physicist and one entomologist died from the virus. There were also 36 deaths from Covid-19 among other healthcare workers.
The high number of healthcare worker deaths coincides with the rising number of coronavirus cases in Indonesia. On June 23, 2021, Indonesia saw an increase of 15,308 coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 2.03 million.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, adherence to the 3M health protocols—wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap—is crucial. Furthermore, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
