GISAID reports that the number of Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 7,293 as of Sunday, March 6, 2022. This represents a decrease of one case compared to the previous day. Weekly growth in Indonesia was 12.08 percent.
This number of Omicron variants places Indonesia first in Southeast Asia. Thailand still holds the highest number of Omicron cases in Southeast Asia with 4,256 cases.
Singapore is in third place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in Singapore grew by 12.99 percent, totaling 2,514 cases. Daily statistics show a 3.94 percent decrease in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 2,617 cases.
Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Malaysia increased by 69.15 percent to 1,727 cases compared to the previous week; Omicron cases in the Philippines increased by 2.21 percent to 1,251 cases compared to the previous week; and Omicron cases in Cambodia increased by 39.95 percent to 620 cases compared to the previous week.
GISAID's report also states that it has detected a total of 1.94 million Omicron Covid-19 cases worldwide. This is an increase compared to the previous week's total of 1.59 million cases.
