Indonesia today recorded an additional 2,417 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6.78 million as of Thursday, May 4, 2023. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Central Java, and Banten.
The following are the provinces with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases today
- DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 785 cases
DKI Jakarta ranks first. The increase in cases here was 785, or a 0.05 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.56 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in DKI Jakarta is now 1.56 million.
In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, DKI Jakarta also recorded two deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in DKI Jakarta has reached 16,030. The seven-day positive rate is 16.53 percent, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 15.86 percent.
- West Java recorded an additional 483 cases
West Java ranks second. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 483. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 9.99 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 23.22 per week.
- East Java recorded an additional 348 cases
Next is East Java. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 348. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 11.6 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 14.97 per week.
- Central Java recorded an additional 228 cases
Next is Central Java. The increase in cases here was 228, or a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 659,270. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 659,500.
Unfortunately, in addition to recording a high number of new cases, Central Java also recorded 12 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Central Java has reached 34,164. The seven-day positive rate in Central Java is 18.25 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 8.78 percent.
- Banten recorded an additional 152 cases
Fifth is Banten. In this province, the increase in cases today was 152, or a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 370,130. The seven-day positive rate is 10.36 percent, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 8.35 percent.
- Lampung recorded an additional 57 cases
Next is Lampung. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 57. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 6.69 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 1.81 per week.
- DI Yogyakarta recorded an additional 53 cases
Seventh is DI Yogyakarta. In this province, the increase in cases today was 53, or a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 231,710. The trend of cases in this region has increased over the past week. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region is still increasing over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 16.72 percent.
- East Kalimantan recorded an additional 41 cases
Next is East Kalimantan. The increase in cases here was 41, or a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 214,880. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 214,920.
One death was also reported in East Kalimantan today. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Kalimantan has reached 5,802.
The trend of cases in this region has increased over the past week. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region is still increasing over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 3.05 percent.
- Bali recorded an additional 32 cases
Next is Bali. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 32. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 3.26 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 4.54 per week.
- South Sulawesi recorded an additional 26 cases
Next is South Sulawesi. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 26. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 8.83 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 1.18 per week.
