Jakarta's COVID-19 Positivity Rate Rises Again

The COVID-19 positivity rate in DKI Jakarta is showing signs of increasing again. Based on data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the positivity rate in the capital city was 0.6% as of November 10, 2021.

Over the past week, the average COVID-19 positivity rate in Jakarta was 0.5%. This is a slight decrease compared to the previous week's average positivity rate of 0.4%. However, this figure is still lower than the average positivity rate for the same period last month, which was 0.7%.

Although the increase in Jakarta's COVID-19 positivity rate is minimal, the public still needs to remain vigilant. The second wave of COVID-19 in July 2021 saw the capital's positivity rate reach 26.6%.

DKI Jakarta contributed the highest number of new cases nationally on November 11, 2021, with 107 cases. As a result, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the capital is now 868, or 9.1% of the national total of active COVID-19 cases.

Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, stated that local governments need to anticipate an increase in cases due to the coronavirus. DKI Jakarta is one of the provinces experiencing the highest trend of positive COVID-19 cases in the last week.

Therefore, the public is urged to remain disciplined in implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
