The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 105 regencies/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 0.38 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Friday, May 27, 2022).
The top five regencies/cities with the highest confirmed positive cases, exceeding 7.88 per 100,000 population/week, are South Sorong (27.57 per 100,000 population/week), Teluk Bintuni (17.36 per 100,000 population/week), South Jakarta (8.14 per 100,000 population/week), Central Sumba (7.94 per 100,000 population/week), and Central Jakarta (7.88 per 100,000 population/week).
A national COVID-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows that most regencies/cities outside Java Island experienced a decrease in confirmed positive cases. A higher than previous daily number of confirmed positive cases was recorded in 23 regencies/cities, while 39 regencies/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive cases include South Sorong (27.57 per 100,000 population/week), Teluk Bintuni (17.36 per 100,000 population/week), and Central Sumba (7.94 per 100,000 population/week).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
